EMBRACO THRIVES IN THE AUSTRALIAN MARKET THROUGH SELF-CONTAINED SYSTEMS AND NATURAL REFRIGERANT SOLUTIONS

The company plans to be the preferred partner of local distributors and small manufacturers in order to increase its share in supermarkets and convenience stores.

Embraco is a global refrigeration company that, throughout its 48-year journey, has invested in innovative cooling solutions, such as self-contained units, while increasing its commercial presence worldwide. With 11 business units, (among factories and offices) located in Brazil, China, Italy, Mexico, Slovakia, USA and Russia, Embraco has been marketing its portfolio in more than 80 countries, including the Australian market.

The company already holds a leadership position in the Australian household market, and now it has been planning to expand its business and shape the scenario with a Light Commercial portfolio for supermarkets and convenience stores. “By offering advanced high-performance and energy efficiency technologies, through customized customer service, we want to be the preferred partner of local distributors and small manufacturers with the goal to increase Embraco’s market share in Australia, mainly in food retail and food service segments”, states Herlon Eckermann  da Silva, Sales Manager for Asia-Pacific region.

Energy efficiency offered by Natural Refrigerants solutions

While the commercial refrigeration market in Australia is expanding at an annual growth rate of 2.1% (International Marketing Research, Smart Mango, 2017), Embraco has been looking to the future, driving new technology with high performance. Based on the worldwide need to reduce energy consumption, the company has a complete Variable Speed portfolio, the first solution in the refrigeration industry with Inverter technology that allows the compressor to adapt its capacity according to the cooling needs of the freezer or refrigerator.

One of these solutions that Embraco has offered to Australia is FMFT, the most efficient solution for light commercial applications, such as medium and low-temperature reach-ins, as well as supermarket islands. This product enables the compressor to run at broader speed ranges resulting in lower noise and vibration compared to standard solutions and works with R290 (natural refrigerant), which has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and negligible Global Warming Potential (GWP). It also has the potential to reduce energy consumption by up to 30 percent compared to the traditional on-off solutions available in the market, while improving the cooling performance and food preservation.

Solutions with a competitive total cost of ownership and easy maintenance

Another option is Plug n’ Cool that is already popular in Europe and North America. It’s a complete self-contained solution designed for reach-in applications in food retail, which reduces the store’s energy consumption with refrigeration by more than 30%. The system provides a “plug and play” option that accelerates the installation process by 70%, and can replace the traditional machine room, avoiding refrigerant leakage and saving space in the cabinet and store. Modular in design, the equipment has a competitive total cost of ownership and it can be used in different store formats, from small family businesses to large wholesalers, which increases in-store design flexibility.

“Embraco has a global vision but provides solutions that meet the specificity of each country. We’re ready to meet future legislation and we believe in a portfolio that delivers value to the end user. We’re selling almost the same products that we sell in Europe because the Australian market is demanding in both quality and robustness”, says Herlon.
